We work with lots of entrepreneurs that have a great idea but a limited budget to launch and get their brand to market.
By the time they create the branding, trademark, product design, tech packs, samples and photography there is often little left for production or marketing the launch.
If this is the case, we suggest you launch on a crowdfunding platform such as Kickstarter or Indiegogo. These platforms already have a huge audience actively looking for the latest and greatest kit and providing the product as a defined USP, then the campaign can provide a great platform to launch on and provide pre orders and fund your production.
Creating the campaign is very time intensive and you need to follow a tested layout to engage with the audience. The film needs to convey your product and reason for being as well as present the team behind the brand to provide a level of security to the buyer that you know what you are doing.
If all of these steps are taken and your target is reasonable, there is no reason why you can’t be successful on launching your brand on a crowdfunding platform and kickstart your business.
We work with around 15 start ups at any one time and many of these are launching on crowdfunding platforms. To showcase how this works, we launched a brand of our own “FR3ND” that produces sustainable non iron shirts, packed with unique features and made from superfine merino wool.
Within the first 9 days of the campaign, we hit the target we set to go into bulk production without any PR or marketing support. Our biggest day of funding was within the first 12 hours after the campaign launched with backers flooding in that had found us on the platform. In fact, 69% of the pledges were from backers who had found the campaign on the platform and not fed from our social platforms or friends and family.
If you have a great idea but a limited budget, then crowdfunding might be the ideal solution for you to launch. You will still need a budget sufficient enough to create the brand and samples and develop the campaign page.
